Curieuse is only 2 kilometres away from Praslin. The island and surrounding area is a Marine National Park and is settled only by the island rangers. Curieuse has its name from an excursion ship of Marion Dufresne.
Beach View
Although Curieuse was deserted due a fire in 1771, the landscape is already recovered so it is worth a visit. Some of the Coco De Mer palms even survived the fire. Curieuse is also the home of a colony of about 250 giant tortoises.
Giant Tortoises
On Curieuse you can discover wonderful mangrove trees, surrounded by a turquoise lagoon. In the mangrove swamps live many big crabs, which can be seen when you are walking around on the path.
